Dear John Poem by Jesse Artley

Dear John

You said you where shocked when I left, you didn't know how to handle it,
But that's no reason to throw our love back at me, I could make it fit
You tell me maybe you were just in over your head, you thought it was real
What happened, this all came out of nowhere, what am I supposed to feel?
You're sorry, ask me not to hate you, it all just happened way too fast
Well, I'm sorry, for believin' this was the real thing, welcome to my past

Well, I hope I've made you proud,
Look back to see this is all just over now.
Thought it was best for you to just push and pull me around;
Toy with my emotions just so you could gain some new ground
Look down at yourself now, are you happy with what you've found?

In my life now; seems you were the start of this chain reaction
That was set to be the destruction of my mind and heart, diving headfirst
Into another breakdown.
Do us both a favor and stop picking this apart,
I left to make it easier for you; with some hope
Of starting over
