Dead Man Poem by Jim David Morris

Dead Man

Rating: 3.5

wake up, it's begun
in dawn of the desert sun
there is this man
riding in his caravan
on the serpents highway
mornings prey
amber clouds lying still
I stalk behind the hills
I've been told
the man is bold
arriving at a shed
where i will have him dead
his eyes foretold
his life now sold
tormented, his eyes now gleam
on his knees, he begins to scream
i'll have him beg mercy
it's been quite a journey
no pity, only mirth
for what it's worth
forget about my roots
I wanted his black snakeskin boots
With spurs of gold
his skin is cold
thee end is the consequence
I offer a carpet of opulence
furled his body and set ablaze
now I'll travel through the haze
darkness trailing behind
with my new boots and peace of mind
