Daylight Eyes Poem by Stuart Doggett

Daylight Eyes

Things happen,
I have no control,
Good things
Make me smile,
Bad things
Steal my smile.

Things happen,
I feel them here,
Touch them,
They go by,
Clutch them,
Push them by.

Time to wake up my daylight eyes
And watch the world from its sunrise,
Knowledge glinting beneath an innocent smile,
I watch those glowing minutes evolve, change and grow.

Things happen,
I watch them go,
Nightlight eyes
Staring for me,
Forgetful eyes
Forget for me.

Time to wake up my daylight eyes
And watch the world from its sunrise,
Knowledge glinting beneath an innocent smile,
I watch those glowing minutes evolve, change and grow.

Open your eyes,
Your daylight eyes,
Open your eyes
And keep them open,
Keep them open,
Stay awake.

Time to wake up my daylight eyes
And watch the world from its sunrise,
Knowledge glinting beneath an innocent smile,
I watch those glowing minutes evolve, change and grow.

Stay awake,
Stay awake,
Stay awake…
