Dark Phoenix Poem by Mark Earls

Dark Phoenix

Rating: 1.5

From bluegrey eyes a fire is burning;
Blue-white blazing, black within,
Half-seen shape sharpclawed.
Limned with fury wings are beating,
Hot blood fuelling flames;
Filling air with iron tang.

A smile, teeth showing in stark shadow,
Predatory seems to burn;
Deep within this fiery rebirth
Raw passion has returned.
Laughter echoes, eagle-savage,
Heralds phoenix’ swoop to hunt.
