Dancing With The Shadow Poem by Miemi Jamal

Dancing With The Shadow

If someone asked me
What I did with my life
and tomorrow never comes

I would say

I dance with my shadow last night
One real shadow
One perfect shadow
to cover the imperfection
smooth, even and real
a mask all of the cast

A luminance shadow
To mimic every step
With the rhythm of the soul

Perfect line of formation
Dancing smiling without a doubt
Without judgment
Untouchable, just to be observed

Who is this person I am dancing with?
Perfectly round on top
with ears jolting out
perfectly narrowed
perfectly curved
How the mirror tells so many lies
or is it the eyes that refuses to see?

but the same eyes bereaving differently tonight
In the hall filled with memories
good time and worst time
how can the walls contains
all this at once
the shadows of life
of the projectors perception

Tomorrow
if life fails
I know I spent it wise
with my shadow that is

Someone Said
“ All you need is Music, A place to dance
and Love that fills the heart”

and I had it All
