Daddy's Doing Poem by Nicole Gehrman

Daddy's Doing

Rating: 5.0

You showed me the way to go when the fork in the road appeared.
You taught me right from wrong when i need it the most.
I always looked up to you for guidance.
By looking back i see that it never happened.
It was always my dream to be just like you.
But now i see that it would be pointless to even try.
Me wanting you and you wanting me
are two different things.
You promised me this
and then promised me that.
Now i have neither this nor that.
Mistakes were made, but none forgiven,
with no chance in sight of it happening.
For a daughter to not want her father is a crime,
but to you i am nothing but someone who doesnt really matter.
You never were a father to me now you have proven that to me
This once happy story has now gone dark
Hope to find the light and see you there.

To my dear father
From your only daughter

I can commend you greatly on the points of this poem seeing as to how I am in this situation. I do pray to a higher power that your situation gets better. Keep and eye to the future and an ear open for the voices of the past.

The remnants of a man who knows not how to father. I too know how that is. This poem moves me. I think this is the best one i've read by you so far.
