Daddy Poem by Kylie Hutchings

Daddy

Daddy will you hold me
I've only just been born
I'm cold and lonely
In this new world
And I know you'll keep me warm

Daddy can you bounce me
Up there upon your knee
I'll fly high
Just like a fairy
I'll feel so very free

Daddy take me shopping
I really want to go
I've got this dress
But not the shoes
To wear out to the show

Daddy will you trust me
I'm growing bigger now
He's just a boy
I chose him well
Because you showed me how

Daddy meet my daughter
She's extra precious, see
I'll hold and love her always
She'll be a princess
Just like me

Daddy growing older
Can be so very fun
I love the way
You still laugh and play
And carry on with Mum

Daddy please don't leave me
How do I say goodbye
To the man who shaped me
Taught me loved me
And held me when I cried

Daddy though you're gone now
I really hope you know
That you were never not my hero
And I'll always love you so.
