Dad Poem by Maura Sánchez

Dad

I'll never be good enough...
I'll never be your daughter

After all these years
I care not, to bother
The feeling of 'you're not mine'
will never leave your eyes
the words of malice
were never lies

By and by, I left your side
and tears I would often hide
you left me so abruptly
alI I wanted was a smile
or at least to stay a little while

Through times of need
you were never there
Its obvious you didn't care

But that juvenile heart still had hope
when it didn't cry and mope

You let me down completely
why don't you just say goodbye?

Because

You'll never be good enough...
You'll never be my father
