Cyberspace Poem by Amal Alawar

Cyberspace

Why would I say anything... or tweet?
I'm just a button to add or delete...
I'm a digital citizen, just zeros and ones...
My family the same, even my sons
I collaborate, I iterate in a virtual world
with likes and comments twirled and swirled
No hands to shake, it feels all fake...
and it doesn't look like I'll get a break...
Feeling naive trying to believe,
old times I can... always retrieve! ! !
This world I know... it is not true
It is a fiction! ! ! Technology can screw
No sniff or scent... Just let me vent
This is not how life was really meant
Life is a bird soaring so high...
Life is the music piercing the sky...
A girl and a boy climbing a tree
friends on the beach enjoying the sea
Memories of family, childhood and home
At times it feels I am on a roam
22 years I've been away,
wishing one day I go to stay
A dream, a gleam taunting my heart
a wish that will NEVER get to start
In cyberspace... I'm stuck forever
fooling my mind, it will get better
My soul is a rumbling thunderstorm
waiting to escape... not conform
I hear it plea 'I WANT TO FLEE'
I wish one day I WILL BREAK FREE
