Current Global Issue Sonnets

Rating: 5.0

you might not like my muse mind sonnets
I was more interested in pulling rabbits from hats
deciding Shakespeare I could not match write
I decided to focus more on what I knew not?
I wrote more modern or urgent themes styles
that became my own word plays in intriguing ways
I did not split hairs on rigid rhymes nor qualities
which seemed overdone too ornate in lavish fancies

set rhyme schemes hackneyed I felt had had their day
I decided my desired path should follow another way
current global themes in world focus did steal my time
planet earth was doing rag time wartime not peacetime
subtleties of thought passions events I sought to bind
conscience issues these seemed of import to my mind
