Crossroads Poem by Gordon D Wilkinson

Crossroads

Rating: 5.0

At crossroads in life’s journey
Buried deep the twisted signpost
Pointing everywhere and nowhere
Covered in the snows of many winters bitterness’s
Blanketing out the words of comfort
Even the paths to follow are covered in the fog of indecision
A lost soul gathering jumbled thoughts
Squats to throw destinies dice
Wanting lady luck to choose
Unsure, yet knowing the direction that should be followed
Fearful the dice will fall that way
Hoping for a guiding welcoming hand will reach out
Embrace this soul taking it to the sunlight of summer
There in the warmth of redemption to rest weary bones
As the dice tumbles out of the rim and falls
Disappointment and joy crowd around
Jostling for lucks decision
Onwards souls go sightless, stumbling forwards to fate
Only time will tell if the signpost lied
If lady luck had deserted this wanderer
More bitterness or sun filled meadows to laze in peace
