Creatures Of The Earth And Stars Poem by Patrick Frazier

Creatures Of The Earth And Stars

The oracle I visit at the gate
Splays her fingers in search of fate
Drugging hearts with vain glory
And rolling her eyes

The trickster showing me his mask
Of mandrill features in a screeching laugh
Lets me hold his vicious asp
Though I never asked

Aerial demons
Small and black
Some are climbing on your back
Always bring the ears to bleed
As they scream, 'I need, I need! '

The muse manifests her mood with colors
Changing our feelings toward one another

Underneath the flaming tree
The pianist plays in swells of green
Inspiring us to things unseen

A heart is shared
Shared from birth
With many creatures of the Earth
And stars

Soul of breath, soul of water
From which ancient queen or father?
Body of bone, body of wood
That some dream misunderstood?

What was warped, made straight
What was diluted, refined
What was woeful, written
In the sands of time.
