Once upon a time there lived a boy
Who didn’t dare lay his head to sleep;
Who’s docile, darkened room decoy
Did not reveal, release the shallow weep,
That came inside the scared, sniveling kid.
Oh, how he feared the stroke of midnight,
Like children hate a refused, rejected bid,
And the stirring shadows coming tonight;
Did rouse his fear- his phobia! -to no aiding.
Tick-tock clicked the hallway clock
And midnight came descending the being,
The creeping, crawling, creatures they’d mock
The boy that once upon a time did breath;
And the creatures lurk with no leave.
