Cousin It Poem by Marilyn Lott

Cousin It

This is a very sad story
I'm sure you'll want to hear
Cousin IT has lost his leaves
He had looked so full and dear.

The beauty was there for Summer
Starting in late Spring
But then Fall and Winter came
And nakedness I knew it would bring.

I know that Cousin IT is not alone
For leaves are falling amongst us
Different trees, different times
Again Nature makes quite a fuss.

But, of course, Cousin IT will rebound
During Spring new leaves will form
After all, it is not forever
Winter does Cousin IT no harm!
