Copper Coloured River Poem by Luke Arthur

Copper Coloured River

A copper coloured river ran through a copper coloured wood
Where the brunt orange leaves of the mighty oak tree stood
There purple mushrooms grew and the lilac Herons flew
Under a deep red sky with rain clouds of creamy blue

Lime green lichens and deep green mosses line dry-stone walls
Ferns and heathers stand rampant in the mist of white water falls
Swallows swoop and rock doves hoot amidst the wise owl’s calls
Butterflies clutter whilst fireflies flutter watching otter's make spalls

Chestnut foxes and auburn deer run free over the stone ached bridges
The yellow hammer joints in the clammer to catch the pesky midges
Young pink salmon fly whilst the dipper bird dredges the rolling river
Through a copper coloured wood ran a copper coloured life giver
