Controversial Ideas Poem by Kay Moore

Controversial Ideas

CONTRAVERSIAL IDEAS
By Kate Moore 26-AUG-2018
I'm a contraversial poet,
This I'm telling you,
Maybe you'll object,
To what is, my, point of view.
Is it about the clothes we wear,
Or is it about the cut our hair.
Is about the polititians for whom we vote,
Or the plight of the homeless,
For whom, there's no hope.
Is it because my voice is too loud,
And want to shout, to all the crowd?
Or is it my quest, to print free speech,
Where in other countries, that is out of reach.
If you don't like, what I say,
Too bad, I've said it anyway.
In Australia, we are all unique,
And therefore, have the power,
Of FREEDOM, of speech.
Now the topic of colour, is not so rare,
But we're called a racist, if we go there.
Yet political choice, cannot be aired,
For those tender hearted, that will be scared.
We all have our right, on the day we vote,
Sad if that topic, prior, of which, no one spoke.
The papers, the media, the internet too,
Will surely share their point of view,
Some will be fake, some will be true,
Yet what is important, is reality, to you.
How shamefull for all, if we have NO view.
Just paddle along, in our own canoe.
Thrash it out and you will see,
Sometimes my friends, we agree, to disagree.
Share your opinions, lets debate,
So a happier country we will make.
Accept your friends, point of view,
And what will follow, is respect for yours too.
