Contradictions Poem by Juan Olivarez

Contradictions

To wake from a dream,
Is to leave reality,
In God's grand scheme,
Of endless infinity.

To live is to die,
To die is to live,
Above there is no sky,
To take is to give.

When you are asleep,
You are really awake.
When the mountain is steep,
What road do you take?

You can take the high road,
Where it's hard to breathe.
Or stay on the low road,
And learn how to grieve.

Whenever you smile,
Do you mean to frown?
If you listen for a while,
You might hear no sound.

Do you look, but not see,
Listen and not hear?
Am I you, and you me,
Are you brave, filled with fear?

To some questions it seems,
No answers appear.
Maybe only in dreams,
Will all things be made clear.
