Computer-Eyes Poem by Practicing Poetess

Computer-Eyes

Rating: 5.0

What are we doing to our eyesight
Living on computers, both day and night?
Will we go blind at an early age
Just because devices are all the rage?
Will we atrophy, and become fat
Because all day, before a computer we sat?
Will our social skills decline
Will we lose a free-thinking mind?
Will it be 'stimulus, response'
Will we become dull as a dunce?
I'd unplug my computer, and throw it away
Before I'd ever see that day!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
... And this is the INNOCENT version.
Things have already gone too far.
When an 18-year-old boy kills a 16-year old boy, and nobody intervenes to help, but they all stand around videoing the dying boy so they can have their 15 minutes of fame on facebook live- -
What has this world come to? Is technology more important than human life?

all very true what your insightful poem says! the 15 mins of fame on facebook for that 18 year old, is a FB problem of insufficient censorship. i love ♥️ my computer, got my first apple in 1988. tried a PC had multiple problems & went back to apple & will never change again. i use my computer every day for emails, family history research, poetry & browsing. yes, & i do spend many hours on it. cheerio carola

Thanks, Carola. I never got my first computer until 2002. I prefer loving ppl to loving my computer! But, they do seem necessary for the times we live in- -particularly if you write. Cheers to you, too! : -)

Time management is important here. Our daily activities should be balanced. There is time for everything to eliminate the monotony, eventually enhancing our health...10++++

How true, Bernard. I worry about ppl who live on their computers 24/7. When do they take their meals? What do they eat? No sense in sacrificing your health by overdoing time on the computer! Thank you for your comment! : -)

Thanks, Lamar. I was always taught 'Love people, and use things' - - - Not the other way around. Technology was created to serve us. We are not meant to be slaves to it. : -)
