Communications Failure Poem by Ray Hansell

Communications Failure

I look back and think
Of all that we've been through
For the life of me
I don't know how I lost you

We use to be the best of friends
We shared everything
Now I feel so very sad
When I remember what had been

You always had my back
I always had yours
Watching out for each other
Was never ever a chore

The fun times that we had
Far out numbered the bad
But now that I've lost you
My heart is very sad

I only wish I knew
Exactly what it is I've done
It hurts me so very deeply
To have to lose my son

Profound and deeply touching poem on a lost loved one -whether lost by distance, by bond, or by death. I can relate to this with the emotional barrier I have with my own grown-up daughter, a bitterness that built a wall between us through the years.
