Color Me Clarity Poem by Jacob Bjork

Color Me Clarity

I see stars in the sky tonight
They're burning so beautiful and bright
And guiding me to the place I know I want to be
Because this life has taken a lot out of me
But the decisions I make have given me a break
From that cycle I used to believe was fate
If that was faith then I don't know what it means to hate
Because that's all that flowed through my veins

All my life I've fought the good fight but I'm giving in
Because I'm finally ready for my life to begin

I'm safe and sound, as I begin to unravel
A path on the ground to travel, space is too far out
From this place I know I have to be now
Sometimes I want to give it all up and just leave
But it doesn't matter where I go, my heart will reside in this state
The one I used to fill with hate, for the rest of my days

I left this world when I was 14 years old
It was an escape that I never thought would take,
Take everything that meant anything
My sense of reality and traces of what's right
Weren't apart, my mind took flight
I left my friends and family and found comfort in a home
That felt more like hell, again this feeling took over
When I fell, I couldn't find a way out
I thought, 'Maybe this world is better off without'

Evil and I, we consumed everything
But The stars I found changed anything inside me
That burned a hole through my soul
I took in what happened next and became sealed within that breath
Every door that I'd never seen before opened up,
It was more than I ever could have wished for

I'm safe and sound, as I begin to unravel
A path on the ground to travel, space is too far out
From this place I know I have to be now
Sometimes I want to give it all up and just leave
But it doesn't matter where I go, my heart will reside in this state
The one I used to fill with hate, for the rest of my days

All my life I've fought the good fight but I'm giving in
Because I'm finally ready for my life to begin

I said, all my life I've fought a war with myself, inside a living hell
but I'm done with this, it's time for the searching to begin

Let me in
