Cold And Bitter Poem by Jamie Evans

Cold And Bitter

Rating: 3.0

Wrap yourself around that sleeping bag tighter
Oh you great drinker... Oh you great fighter,
You muppet! What have you done?
Running away from every single problem.
You were once respected and married
Sadly, though, you threw it away
And gave in to the drink until you were battered.
The wife scorned you and called you a failure,
Your son hit you and you slept with your neighbour...

Now you sleep on a doorstep dont you? You tramp!
Begging for pennies and eating what you can.
Turnips and half eaten lumps of something nasty and damp,
Haven't shaved in weeks or had a shower or brush my teeth...
Did I say my.. I meant yours, who am I kidding?
Now theres my coffin to adorn with that wreath.
If thats my final resting box with its cheap iron handles..
Then I must be dead but who'll light my candle?
