City Butterfly.... Poem by RIC BASTASA

City Butterfly....

a butterfly born in
the city of skyscrapers
finds solace in the
neon branch and never tasted
what is nectar to the
sunflower.
how does it know that it
is a butterfly
in virtual longing for
flowers and stalks and
fruit juices left by the
bats of a forest land?
it dreams of nectar but
cannot really figure out
where or when and why.

butterflies born in alien cities of skyscrapers, will not sleep lost in flash fog neon light, knowing galaxies of stars shine in limitless heavens, with the sunrise will come promise sunbeam paths of leading light, to flowerbox flowers to rooftop gardens to city parks, butterflies will flight flutter to their oasis nectar dreams, when where why never impairs nectar fuel stops, before chosen flowers mating migration moments complete butterfly lifecycles
