Citizens Poem by Ojeikpo Elijah

Citizens

We are the nation
A stone from the bottom
A seashore
Who are seen the seas dry
To her roof.

We are the nation
Tomorrow is it now?
Why my leaders hated the truth?
But he who knows her
Shall abound in freedom.

We are the nation
We seen the fall of states and
The destruction of peoples.
The kings and emperors
Have called us an ordinary citizens.

We are the nation
Sitting on a cold chair
With eyelids pressed for better nation
We mourned about the trouble
Starry sky.

We are the nation
The cloak future
Unveiling with fears.
Who will take the rod?
When will our Moses return?
Our leaders are god's
That couldn't rescued his peoples,
