Christmas Time At Work Poem by Alison Drew

Christmas Time At Work

'Humph' said the boss, for the hundredth time
there's too much to do, what a bind!
his team of office elves were doing all they could do
there wasn't even time to go to the loo

They worked so hard their fingers were bleeding
and didn't the boss know just how much they needed feeding!
Constant supplies were on hand to keep them sweet
Even constant phone calls did not them beat

Everyone was afraid of the bosses temper and bark
somewhere they knew was a beating heart?
others thought he was so happy and jolly
but he worked them hard, for lots of lolly!

But one day in his office, an angel did appear
holding football tickets and four cans of beer
'be good to your team and regularly phone us
with news of your campaign to get them a bonus'

With sweat and fear the boss promised to be better
and would send them all good cheer in a letter
the team elves were so pleased with this new praise
and the promise of getting a lovely pay raise

So here is a tale of a happy ending
and no team member every had to beg again for money lending
they all lived happy ever after, such a happy fate
as long as the bosses paid well and fed them choc-o-late!
