we can be chained in thoughts
which ride our emotions
defy reason;

dominate
our minds
compel our actions;

or we can decide
to release ourselves
from the past;

to accept
who we are
all actions;

which have contributed
to our present personality
rule conscious awareness;

we can strive to be
that which we want to be
desire most to be;

we can make peace
with our past
any mistakes made;

live in the present
move into the freedom
of a fresh future;
