Children's Books That Matter! Poem by Denis Martindale

When I was but a tiny lad, my teacher gave advice,
That there were more joys to be had! And these would make me wise!
The library had books galore that comics could not match,
And I explored these more and more and read these by the batch.
Six books each time were mine to share for children who still cared,
And some were Christian books on prayer so I could get prepared.
The Bible helped me find the Lord in Sunday School one day,
Salvation was my sweet reward that none could steal away.

When I had cash that I could use to share the Gospel, too,
The children's books were there to choose to get the message through.
The Bible's such a superbook when pictures can get seen.
If illustrated, take a look then you'll know what I mean.
What precious treasures God bestows across the world right now,
To help each child that grows and grows in righteous faith somehow.
Take hold of treasures when you can! So that your hearts get blessed!
So you can help your fellow man! Each time you do your best!
