Childhood Memories Poem by Richard (Narad) Eggenberger

Childhood Memories

Rating: 5.0

Childhood Memories

Fronting the fierce and sweltering heat,
And clouds of insects seeking blood
I made my way on blistering feet
And stepped into a faery wood.
A wonderland of hemlock trees
From rotted stumps that felt like peat
Grew upright in a cooling breeze;
The spongy earth my cushioned seat,
I the intruder welcomed here
Felt my wild heart's beating cease,
A raindrop falling like a tear
Brought silence as it brought me peace.
Childhood memories grow dear
And every hour passing sweet.
