Child In Me Poem by Richard Netherland Cook

Child In Me

Child In Me

Like friends have we traved far,
And looked for the brightest star.
Child in me, my dead youth
We have searched for lifes' sweet truth.

We have stood the toil and strife,
Together faced each stage of life:
In my heart is where you stay
To remind me of my yesterday.

I loved you when so young and gay
You followed me through my childhood day
Through all the gladness, sadness and tears
I never lost you through all these years.

I am reminded of a simple truth,
No longer am I in my youth.
In memory only, can I recall
Days when life was best of all.

Now our time has come to face
The twilight of this time and place
To pass together through the door
Where life ends and is no more.
