Cavemen Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Cavemen

Dark, lonely.
Is this what life really has to offer.
A continuous journey.
A land laid bare without fruit.
The vegetation of life.
desolate, in a desert vast in length.
To be Searched in awe.
Our feet have grown weary.
flipping over every stone.
Astonished at what we'll find,
If we'd find anything at all.
A shudder of eyelids.
Skin crackled at the thought of the sun.
An Infinite source of heat,
A thirst that persists parched lips.
Dried, without moisture.
Then it happens.
The beauty of Hygrophious.
Hand over hand, drowning in an absolute dream.
The thought of a tongue saturated in saliva.
Excavated into a dark tunnel.
Our feet cleansed in longing,
A primal induction not consistent by rage.
The further we journeyed.
The bliss of searching complete darkness.
We left our mark among the walls,
Without light we knew our destination.
Seeing without seeing.
Nothing left but to wonder.
The beauty of gifts left unseen.
Soon to flourish into something beautiful.
The birth of eyes waking for the first time.
