Cats 8. What’s The Best Cat? Poem by Konstantin Ananin

Cats 8. What’s The Best Cat?

- What’s the best cat?
__________________- The question
Is for an academician.
First of all it must catch mice.
It must have big blue eyes
And be white, with long hair.
It must be calm and clever.
- Mice? I remember you said
You had no mice.
________________- When Tom had
Had them all for his dessert,
I could say so. He caught
Mice after he had had cheese;
I saw him go and breathe
Into a mouse hole…
- I haven’t caught hold
Of his method.
_______________- I
Haven’t said all yet. Nine
Out of ten mice are mad
About cheese…
________________- I see. That
Baiting breath made mice think
Of the cheese they’d have seen
There if they’d run out
And so on.
____________- I’m about
To say your Tom can answer
Your descriptions.
