Catharsis Poem by Julia Isabella Miranda

Catharsis

Rating: 4.0

In the space between nothingness my heart lies
In the empty languid stillness
In this box of cold silence
Curled, curled, curled,
Into the smallest small
Where the flowers have no color and the sun has no warmth
Deceived by the light in your eyes
Your sugared words and gentle kiss
You told me it was spring
So I closed my eyes and believed
Even when the frost crept into the corners
Even when your words became dragon's teeth
Somewhere the truth lies
Where you left it
Twisted
Writhing
Mangled
While you gorge and feast
On the delicate blossoms grown
from the cascade of tears
Of those who cherished you
You who eats the soul of your beloved
With the sword of your indifference
I cast you away and rise from this anguished keep.
Thief, you shall not take the last beat of my heart
Neither shall you steal my hopeful dreams
Run back to your web of deceit
And I will cry for you
wrapped so tight in the roots of your dispassion
Bathed in the water of Narcissus
You give only so you may receive.
I banish you. You may not have my love.
I will keep it safe and warm within my heart
For now.
