Cat On The Blackthorn Tree Poem by Izza Majeed

Cat On The Blackthorn Tree

The cat sits perched on the blackthorn tree
Gazing over the world and what can it see?
Strife, conflict, a world of despair
Broken souls trapped in an eternal nightmare.

The rain falls down like acid to skin
As nothing can be done to fix man's great sin
The cat's tail twists, eyes burning bright
Trying to see a future past the never-ending night

Shadows sing to the devil's fanfare
While the sparrows cry out a desperate prayer
Gold tears stream down the old clock's face
It cries; "Time is running out, the end you must embrace! "

Joy is ash in a garden of fragmented memories
Hope melts into rivers of destroyed destinies
Blood-stained angels try to stand tall
But they cannot pick up man after its great fall

Madness and insanity!
The depths of darkness indeed!
Oh, how has once-great humanity
Succumbed to the essence of greed?

The end will come, that is for sure
But could the world really be so impure?
Children play in a park below
While adults create war, poverty and woe

Daily life continues, corrupt as planned
Humanity will someday kill itself with its own hand
Innocence is crushed like a flame before an ocean
As if time will last forever, quite a foolish notion

And into the future the black cat can see
While still perched on the blackthorn tree
Destruction approaches like a blood-red moon
And if man continues like this, it will come before soon.
