Cast Poem by Josh Ras

Cast

Now I am off to bed
to empty out my head
to emulate the dead
to escape from the dread
no tears though will be shed
no more books will be read
to see where i am led
by who said what who said
and as i lie right back
lie still and hear the crack
of bones as joints relax
my eyes will fill with black
as dreams behind them stack
my body to go slack
will free me from the wrack
but still must i come back?
still tomorrow must I rise?
And interrupt my brief reprise
To work and work till my demise
That leads me to justly surmise
That those in power we must surprise
As we the people must arise
To cast down those who we despise
And power from their fingers prise
Strip them of benign guise
See through non distorted eyes
Tear down every house of lies
To free us from our bondage ties
Before our hope, our spirit dies.
