Cast Dice Poem by Selorm Agbleze

Cast Dice

Now I bite my way into the third dream
Not by crook
But by the exhausting hook
With aching heart I step into this nightmare
This was not the dream I anticipated
Frankly, I wish it was only a dream

Life is a cast dice
Today my effort did not give me a six
Nevertheless tomorrow’s luck
Dwells in the womb of today’s cast
Take my dice and cast
Oh Lord I beseech you
For my hands are too feeble to make a six

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem was written just before I entered the university. Grade six was the best available and I just did not make that, and the many meanings that came with it then.
