Calamity Poem by Dark Blood

Calamity

The acts and follies of one man, scar and leave deep wounds forever in the bodies and memories of his children, and time itself.
How does one react to the horrors of unknown sins?
Such things would surely lead to madness.
Both Oedipus and Jocasta were taken by death. Leaving their cursed sons and daughters in the sovereign, yet implacable hands of Creon, the king of a neighboring land. Poor dears…..
Cursed…

Misfortune seeks them out with every breath they take. With each step, they draw closer to death.
The gods set their wrath upon Oedipus and Jocasta.
Every being with their blood running through their veins will die knowing pain.
Years passed, boys grew to men, innocence to greed. Watch brothers fight one another for a kingdom. One a king, the other in exile. Watch as they race towards on another.

Swords clash,
Blood shed,
Silence.

Listen, Antigone how she wails, her despair pierces the silence. One at peace, the other marked as a traitor.

Creon, King of hubris with his edicts of flame, stones those who contrive against him. Young maiden of rose and blush, the will of the gods call

Go forth to rotting flesh, and bury that which is dear to you while the gods provide cover.
Sealed is she for obeying, for remaining loyal.

By means of Augury, Teiresius brought words of foreboding, Creon bound by the threat of anarchy speaks with words of acid.

Sweet, gentle Haemon.
Your attempts…….forsaken.

The wind carries your mourning on its back.

How dare he? !

Your bride taken
Robbed of her beauty

Revenge!
Lunge forward to smite!
In despair, bury it within yourself
Hold frail love to your chest

Cough, gasp, choke on your last breath

Fade.
