By The Waters Poem by Jujutshu Kumar Deb

By The Waters

Oh! I want to go to the land beyond the waters.
A dream land
Of green foliage,
Shady palms and conifers,
Where time fails to surprise me.
There I want to dwell like a bird,
Flying across the skies,
Cooing with love,
Not alone, but with a mate.
Alas! Alas! My finger pains,
For I have been writing
My beloved's name on the bank,
I feel I can never cross the lake
And enter the world of my desires.
Love blinds me.
But in my blindness
Reality brings light.
Forgetting all my dreams,
I sit still dipping my tired hand
Into the waters.
