Butterfly Poem by Sheena Datta

Butterfly

Rating: 5.0

what formed thee o Sun child
with cocooned vibrancy of the World
nestled in the dusty pallor
slithering in the frail dismissive form
till the breeze carries a tender touch
and the rays fall on you to morph
into a magical blossom of mother nature
shimmering with delightful grace
of mesmerizing palette, intriguing shades
a reflection
butterfly

This all goes by in one breathless sentence. And the sentence is dense with detail, that is, poetic detail, not vague stuff but vivid images that trace the life to come for this creature as it adds a small but genuine touch of beauty to the world. Your appreciation of this very small example of beauty is the real virtue and charm of the poem.
