But The Song! Poem by Eric Cockrell

But The Song!

Rating: 3.5

nightingale...
sing for me,
turn my heart inside out,
unlock the door,
pull down the shades!

tired and weary,
gonna lay down my cross.
this war is over,
and the rain has stopped...
sing for me!

dont need tomorrow,
cant change yesterday.
everything i've ever owned,
crumbled to dust...
unlock the door!

nightingale,
sing for me,
till there's nothing
left of me...
but the song!

I love this one, it would sound great spoken over some finger picking on the guitar. A great poem.
