Building Bridges Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Building Bridges

Rating: 5.0

This coloured world has many creeds
Who tear God’s church apart
With bridges God can meet the needs
And calm the troubled heart

Each bridge must be for black and white
That leads to arms held wide
No border to be crossed at night
Welcome are “ALL” inside

No toll, barrier passport or map
Nor any sort of visas
For all we need to bridge the gap
God’s perfect love in Jesus

Extend His love, with outstretched hand
See if then we make it
How quick they’ll learn to understand
Taking hold to shake it

No wood or steel could ever span
The rifts that yawn between
Yet with God’s help a caring man
Can build what can’t be seen

In Christ alone can man survive
In Him we need to build
Our bridge in Christ will come alive
All disagreements stilled

We’ll form above demonic slime
God’s bridge of living stone
United we’ll cross the rift of time
Through Jesus Christ alone

So answer now Salvation’s call
There’s no-more time to hide
Our bridge in truth will never fall
For Christ is on our side.
