Broken Summers Poem by Akujuobi Chijioke

Broken Summers

I hear a ring in my head
A ring so fierce
It mauls a string; Gridlocked, broken and strained.

I laugh at the pain
The ring offers in quiet sympathy
With a tint of life
And a touch of death.

In this earthly play
The rivers dance to the ring
And are scorched by the mercy
That soothes the current to a timeless beat...
