Pride Poem by Akujuobi Chijioke

Pride

Rating: 5.0

If you think you have the strenght of a thousand Lords,
And a thousand peasants at your beck and call;
If you think you're able to stand on top of the world,
Remember, Pride comes before a fall.

If you think truth should be sought through you,
And you have the makings of a know it all;
If you feel that knowledge is your pedestal,
Remember, Pride comes before a fall.

If you have to laugh so others cry,
And blind your eyes to the writings on the wall;
If you drink from the cup of honour and squalor,
Remember, Pride comes before a fall.

When you've lived your days to the fullest measure,
And your life rolls through time like a ball;
When you look around and there's no one beside you,
Then you'll know that Pride comes before a fall.

Clever writing, Pride has a rightful place in this world, but often falls. nicely said.
