Breaking From Misery Addicts Poem by Carole Davis

Breaking From Misery Addicts

Rating: 5.0

Misery can become an addiction an easy way out.
Swimming in self pity and the need to pout.
Vicious gossip and the need to place others down
In horrid self inflicted pain it is easy to drown.

So easy to lament and play the victim of life
Blame everyone else for pain and strife,
You cause with vicious gossip and poisonous tongue,
Your own suffering grows with the hatred you have flung

A cycle you have created spiraling down,
Whining and moaning wearing a frown.
Jealous and bitter because of your life
In others backs you stab a knife.

You are fully responsible for all the pain you have caused
Looking in depth for the reason have you paused
Stop blaming others for your mistakes
Tearing them down with poisonous snakes

I guess that is easier than facing your fears
Of suffering you feel with holding your tears.
You will never be free of the pain that you feel
Until you come to terms with your life and start to deal

I no longer listen to the poison you spread
The lives of others you desperately shred
I understand I am responsible for my actions and joy
You tried to bring me down and tried to destroy

Do you really need to question why I walked away
I broke the cycle of your bitterness and kept you at bay
I am free and I love and can always embrace living
Knowing the I will spread sunshine and be giving
