Born Against It Poem by Gary Fellows

Born Against It

Rating: 5.0

Kicking and screaming
We emerge in this world
Screaming and kicking
We fight our way through

Overwhelming odds defied
Genetic complexities unique
Through the maze of evolution
And the obstacles of chaos

Real miracles are here
Notions and concepts
Beyond ancient mans limit
Pushing boundaries of thought

The newborn arrive here
A blank canvass exposed
An innocence and purity
Until labelled by an ideology

But the child can’t escape
From the claws of the cleric
Penned by walls of unreason
Narrow minds narrow in

Life’s what you make it
I heard someone say
But how many of us know
If our hopes will show true

So we can only hope
Make sure we don’t pray
See that miracle called life
Called universe, time and space
