Bonfire Poem by Bharat Mehru

Bonfire

Apart - alone
amid a
chilly night
sitting close to
a smoky bonfire
I stuck under
some wonder
Can the warmth
of a bonfire
bring you an
enjoyable oblivion?
when horizens seemed
to be sank into
deep darkness,
as if
hiding their
faces,
suddenly
at that moment
my own
face appears-
starts dancing
like a
mask of a puppet
at first with
a terrible laugh
then
it break badly
into tears,
all this
compelled me
to put
more wood
into the bonfire
to get blazes
higher and higher
in the hope that
the virtual face
and it's
penetrating eyes
be dazzled with
the light
and the heat
melt it off
instantly,
after all
I got to pass
this night of
biting cold
Obviously
I chose that
Maths of
loss and gain
be done
some another day,
for now
let's enjoy
the soothing
warmth of
the bonfire....!
