Bonds Of A Common Passion Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

Bonds Of A Common Passion

Ah today's new
Genre of close friends—
Hundreds of
Fleeting miles far on ends,
Seen or not across screen,
But friends no less than green,
Friends for whom you feel,
But not hold hands!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
It is amazing how we socialise today; not over dinner parties but people come together to form ‘communities of interest' and bond over a common passion. There is no barrier of age or gender when it comes to friendship. A forty something is friends to a septuagenarian, relating well still. On this poetry site we have friends bonding over the common passion of poetry. To me, it is soul bonding more than friendship. It is akin to the Japanese concept of ‘moai' (meeting for a common purpose) , following a Buddhist idea of ‘itai doshin' (many in body, one in mind)to which I referred to in another poem (I can't recollect which one) .

Respecting to the predilections of the modernist poets/readers, I have split a limerick form out of shape.
