Bloom Again Poem by Theresa Bubenzer

Bloom Again

Bloom in the Sun Again

OK, I admit that I lost myself
And bled on dark sheets
in a stranger's grip
The pain was exquisite
They held me down

I swam in light
Singing alleluias
Blessings murmured
over the click of surgical steel

Retracting, probing
Sutures across the tumultuous divide
Of my divided skin

At no time, dear one
Did I notice
Your tears
Hidden perhaps in your starbucks cup?

There are some losses
So great and terrible
They rip across the dry lands
Of flesh and being, unnoticed
Until the bloodstained sheets
Greet the morning like a sunrise

I would bloom again
Turn to the sun again
If you would water my loss
With your tears
