Blessing Granted Poem by D.N. Rebb

Blessing Granted

Rating: 5.0

Uncomplicated faces are easy to read
Informal recitals must surely still proceed
A medieval summon, to which eldest agrees
Sensitive words delivered without guarantee

May I have your blessing, dear Sir?
Promise to take good care of her
Share gentle humor in return
There's so much more of life to learn
Jointly the road has less concerns
Dear Sir, please do not look so stern
Your blessing, I feel I have earned

Long silence, while stepping in front of this trap door
You want to jump, but must be brave, for what's in store
A faint smile then upon his face brings you ashore
Hand comes out, still eye contact judgingly explores

Your text-book keynotes are charming
Presume you have the perfect ring?
Once an unknown, now a young king
I most admire what you bring
There's little more for me to think
Chivalry is not yet extinct
Hence, blessing granted on instinct

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
