Black Gooty Poem by Anees Rahman

Black Gooty

Fireworks and celebrations, are aloft …
little Umaid stands shaken and frozen,
But a boy there lived, an innocent boy,
Not by the name of the frozen Umaid.
He was happy… to play with the goat…
To play and play with the Black Gooty,
To celebrate the delightful Eid.
Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar…
Allahu Akbar allahu Akbar…

His plight, his heart, his faith or happiness
With which should he live, when they kill Gooty?
he was happy before they killed Gooty
He wanted Black Gooty alive,
That Black Gooty could shake his head,
That Black Gooty could speak to him,
But the celebrations are on…
To welcome the delightful Eid.
Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar…
Allahu Akbar allahu Akbar…

They had made a bet, who the handsome be?
A Cap with horn, to match Gooty, he wore,
A shoe too black, to match, Gooty, he wore,
A dress shining, To challenge Black Gooty,
To challenge his white and black beauty,
To challenge his shining horns, he wore,
But celebrations are on,
To welcome the delightful Eid.
Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar…
Allahu Akbar allahu Akbar…

Black Gooty was to be celebrated.
Gooty was tied to be celebrated,
Gooty was killed to be celebrated.
Umaid won the bet, but wanted Gooty,
He wanted Gooty to win, to see him,
Black Gooty was no more beautiful.
But celebrations are on,
To welcome the delightful Eid.
Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar…
Allahu Akbar allahu Akbar…

Like others, he couldn’t laugh…
Like others, he couldn’t dance…
stands there all broken and ill,
With smile, that couldn’t live……
With voice that couldn’t sound.
But celebrations are on…
To welcome the delight, Eid.
Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar…
Allahu Akbar allahu Akbar…
