Better Dreams Poem by Colin Coplin

Better Dreams

Rating: 4.0

Strangers come, strangers go, selling love, is not the way to go
It's not right, it's not fair, human kindness ain't found there
But it's the only life she knows
I guess we're lucky, we have a choice
And if I could, I'd give her new wings, and help her fly to better dreams

Another day, another place, a young child begs, to put food on her plate
Though it gets harder, she never hesitates, a second lost may mean death tonight
But it's the only life she knows
I guess we're lucky, we have a choice
And if I could, I'd give her new wings, and help her fly to better dreams

Fly, fly, to a better place
Fly, fly, to better days
And if I could, I'd give them new wings, and help them fly, to better dreams

Words flow freely, lost in a world filled with good intentions
As actions decay, in a pool of delay
Yes, I guess we're lucky, we have a choice and speak freely
And if I could, I'd give her new wings, and help her fly to better dreams

Fly, fly, to a better place
Fly, fly, to better days
And if I could, I'd give them new wings, and help them fly, to better dreams

A young solider has killed many men, in a selfish war, still he's not yet ten
He lost a leg, and his family, a small sacrifice paid for his liberty
But it's the only life he knows
I guess we're lucky, we have a choice
And if I could, I'd give him new wings, and help him fly to better dreams

Fly, fly, to a better place
Fly, fly, to better days
And if I could, I'd give them new wings, and help them fly, to better dreams
Fly, fly, fly, to better dreams
