Best Friends And Lovers Poem by Philip Bond

Best Friends And Lovers

Friendship so sincere
bliss erupts
when near,
hearing your thoughts
expressing your reasoning
my respect admiration
ever so deepens...

Knowledge and wisdom surfaces
uninhibited by nervousness
encouraged to unshackle
when freed from the suppressed
not subjected to hackle
wisdom doth espouse,
True friendship is respect and regard
for opinion and feelings
free from the pointed barb
a meeting of like minds...

Such openness so raw
makes me sit back in awe
the nakedness you reveal
is so precious
to me...

Best Friends and Lovers
are not mutually exclusive
just an existing relationship
bathed in new colours...

Yet despite my druthers
we are not lovers.
